Leaving aside the fact that "internet 2" is or was being used for a
completely different purpose already, this of course presupposes that
"the community" (whoever that might be) actually wants to continue using
any term whatsoever to describe the bizarre mashup¹ of some useful and
pre-existing technology, retreaded proven failed business models, dodgy
aesthetic ideas and even more dodgy and some patently scary political
and philosophical claptrap that had adhered to the term "Web 2.0".
