I've just said to someone that Act is one of Perl's success stories.
YAPC's are of course the root cause of growth, but there is no doubt
in my mind that Act is a catalyst/helper in the growth of grassroots
workshops.

It's up there with the respect I hold for RT and SVN, good Perl
software[1] that helps people achieve things. This is the sort of
thing that YE/TPF needs to advertise.

(and as RF has cc'd the board, hi guys! sorry I won't be there this
 year, but ron and I really fancy a break)
