I did a bit of work for the perl clinic at its outset
and one job involved perl code simialr to this.

The difference was that the codebase was >10KLOC
and there was *two* locals and they were incorrect!

This was (another) US bank and trying to explain that we were
not prepared to re-write (and create a test plan!) thier code
base for 80UKP took some doing.
